This London workshop is a great introduction to a natural, eco-friendly dyeing process that you can easily replicate again and again!

We are holding this class with the talented florist and botanical dyer Ottilie of Fleur by Ottilie. She will help you to create beautiful colours and patterns using organic materials onto 2 silk ribbons. You can also upgrade to a silk scarf (£30) or a pillowcase (£40).

Your friendly teacher will show you how you can use fresh and dried petals and even food such as onion skins, carrot tops and avocado stones as dyes with incredible results!

The fabric will be pre-mordanted (so the colours are bright and colourfast) and you then learn about the different natural dye stuffs and can scatter them on your silk.

You will be shown how to bundle them up and then they will be steamed for 20-40 mins. During this time you are free to grab a coffee/snack or explore the local area.

We will then unbundle the silk to reveal the wonderful patterns from nature!

In the pillowcase workshop you will then have the option to create a colourful background colour with the added immersion dye step!

Join us and learn about the benefits of natural dyes and you will go home with either your gorgeous botanically dyed pillowcase/scarf and/or ribbon and amazing tips and advice.
